Cairns Baptist Young Adults (CYA) is a group for anyone over the age of 18 years who seek fellowship with Christians of a similar age.

We have 2 CYA groups – 18-25 years olds and 25+

Our goal is simple, to enable young adults who worship at Cairns Baptist Church, to make connections with other young adults in the church. Hopefully we’ll CYA at CYA soon.

CYA (18-25)
CYA 18-25’s is all about getting to know those others in the church that have left school and are at Uni, working or taking a big gap year/s and seeing the things that everyone has in common.
We have planned activities, informal activities, bible studies, worship times, and just hanging out times where we connect with each other and build friendships with people that are going through the same stuff as everyone else.

Ultimately CYA (18-25’s) is not just a social club. Although we have a Facebook page (like us at CYA) and like to use mobile phones as our Bibles. But ultimately it is more than than just a social get together. It is a place where we are challenged spiritually, where God changes us and where God uses us to rise up within the church and rise up to see our generation follow Jesus Christ.

Therefore we hope that people will form new friendships and build on current ones, and be supported in their Christian walk by these connections. It is also our hope that God will use this generation to build His church and so we encourage this age to be committed and involved in the local church.

CYA (25+)
CYA 25+ usually has a planned activity organised once a month, where you can come, talk to people you may have seen at church on a Sunday but never spent time with or to catch up with friends that you may otherwise have limited time to see. Given the age of the group attendees the activities are generally self-catered, self-drive, self-supervise, and often child- friendly. We have enjoyed over the past few months – BBQs at people’s places, strawberry-picking day outs, movies and a BBQ Beach Fishing day. Future events are only limited by our interests and imaginations.

Ultimately CYA (25+) is not just a social club. Although we have a Facebook page (like us at CYA), we are not an anti-socialising, cyber-communicating only type of group. We hope people will form new friendships and build on current ones, and be supported in their Christian walk by these connections. We are encouraged by the unity and growth in the fellowship we are experiencing, and we have faith in the blessings that will come in the form of new friends yet to join us here at CBC.
