Our daughter Sarah is a 35 year old wife and mother to three beautiful daughters between the ages of 1 and 6 years old In May 2017 she was an ordinary part time working mother caring for those she loves. She was still breastfeeding her baby when suddenly she refused to feed from the right breast...
A letter from Lyle Shelton of the Australian Christian Lobby. ________________________________
I’m writing to ask for your urgent prayers as the marriage debate enters yet another crucial phase… Let me tell you why. Week-after-next, the Federal Parliament will resume following the winter recess. Since Parliament last sat, we’ve heard senior government minister, Christopher Pyne boast that same-sex marriage was coming “sooner than everyone thinks.” Then Liberal Senator Dean Smith revealed he is planning to introduce his own same-sex marriage bill when parliament resumes. All of this is designed to thwart the Prime Minister’s promise to give the Australian people their say on this issue through a plebiscite. Both these developments need your urgent prayer. We wouldn’t be talking about any of this if the Senate would simply honour the Government’s mandate to hold a people’s vote on marriage. Right now the Labor Party, Greens, Nick Xenophon Team and Derryn Hinch are standing in the way of you and I being able to have our say. Nearly 50,000 people have signed the petition calling on the Senate to hear the people and let Australians vote on marriage. The petition will be presented to the Senate in the coming weeks so there isn’t much time left to sign the petition and share it with your friends and family. So please can I ask you to take the following actions right now:
1. Pray that efforts by MPs like Dean Smith, Christopher Pyne would fail as they try to have the government abandon its election commitment to a plebiscite. 2. Sign the petition calling on the senate to allow a people’s vote if you haven’t already. 3. Share this petition with your friends and family to help build the momentum.
Thank you for your steadfast support for marriage. God bless
